The Laboratory Medicine Unit, managed by me, has been used the Activity Based Costing service proposed by Giovanni Barletta for more than ten years. For us it has now become an indispensable tool for the management of the Laboratory and the planning of our activities. Giovanni Barletta has always worked with professionalism and competence establishing a collaboration rich in results.

I worked with Giovanni Barletta when I was Medical Director at ASL 1 - Massa Carrara (2011– 2015) to the development of an integrated Laboratory System of Tuscany Nord-West Area and, in the meantime, to the planning of the Apuane New Hospital Laboratory, according with Activity Based Costing principles. I’m still cooperating with him as Medical Director of Istituto Fanfani of Florence, to the complete redesign of the Laboratory area.

I’m working with Giovanni Barletta from when I decided to implement his Activity Based Costing service into the Laboratory. I find the tool very useful, because it allows my staff to look at the organization of the Laboratory really in deep, highlighting the possibilities of improvement. It is also a good basis for a dialogue with the Hospital Managers.
